Jaume Munar vs Casper Ruud prediction
Jaume Munar produced a fine display to defeat 22nd seed Sebastian Korda and make it through to the fourth-round of the Italian Open. He has now defeated now two seeded Americans in the event so far and reaches the round-of-16 of a Masters 1000 event for just the second time. The Spaniard wasn’t in any kind of form heading into Rome but is now just a win away from the quarters.
He takes on Casper Ruud who made it through after opponent Matteo Berrettini was forced to retire early in the second set. Ruud had taken the first 7-5. The Norwegian is now on an eight match winning streak after winning the Madrid Open last time out and he’s now playing with confidence after struggling in the earlier clay court events.
Ruud leads the head-to-head 4-1 and 2-0 on clay. Their last match on clay saw the world number seven win in the quarter-finals of Gstaad three years ago while they have already played twice this year with the Norwegian winning at the Australian Open and in Dallas.
Though Munar has enjoyed a fine run, we expect Ruud to make it through in straight sets.
