Jasmine Paolini vs Sonay Kartal prediction

Jasmine Paolini continued her progress at the Wuhan Open with a straight sets win over Nikola Bartunkova in the second-round. Bartunkova had defeated the likes of Aryna Sabalenka on her way to the China Open semi-finals last week, but she was unable to get the victory on this occasion, with Paolini winning 7-6 (5) 6-3. The two-time Grand Slam finalist advanced to the last four of this event last year.

She will now face Sonay Kartal, following the Briton’s impressive victory over Belinda Bencic. Kartal was forced to miss six months of the season due to a back injury, but she produced her best display since returning to win 6-0 7-5. This was Kartal’s second biggest win of her career by ranking. She defeated Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina in her opening match.

Paolini has a good record at this event and is the more established player, but Kartal’s convincing win over Bencic suggests she can trouble the Italian.
