Jasmine Paolini vs Clara Tauson prediction
Jasmine Paolini recovered from going a set down to beat Yue Yuan and make it through to the round-of-16 at the Wuhan Open. The Italian went a set down and crucially saved a break point at 4-4, before breaking the Yuan serve in the next game to take the second set. Paolini battled her way through the decider to win 3-6 6-4 6-3 after two hours and 10 minutes. She remains in a strong position to qualify for the WTA Finals at the start of next month.
Clara Tauson will be her opponent in the next round. Tauson breezed through against Antonia Ruzic, winning the last seven service games to claim a 6-3 6-0 win. She has not dropped a set in her two matches so far and the world number 12 is a match away from an eighth quarter-final of a strong season overall.
They have played once before, with Paolini coming from a set down to win in round two of last year’s China Open. Tauson will need to be aggressive from the start, but the Italian has picked up a lot of wins recently and will look to grind her way to victory.
