Jaqueline Cristian vs Marina Stakusic prediction

Jaqueline Cristian, a regular on tour has been playing good tennis of late and the last singles tournament she competed in saw the Romanian make it to the last four in Iasi, winning three matches in straight sets. Despite an eventual semi-final defeat, there were plenty of positives to take out of that tournament for Cristian, setting her up nicely for Montreal.

Marina Stakusic has good memories of the Canadian Open, having won at this stage last year. But she comes into this year’s competition not in the best of form and has yet to really reach the levels the Canadian is capable of, with injury perhaps playing a part in that. On the hard court, Cristian has to be favoured.

Whilst the home crowd can always give a boost to a local player such as Stakusic, Cristian is the stronger player and it would be a surprise if she doesn’t come away from this match with the victory.
