Boulter squandered a break advantage early in the second set but broke again in the 11th game, serving it out to complete a 3-6 7-6 (4) 7-5 win.
Boulter leads 2-1 in the head-to-head, but this is their first match against each other on grass. Boulter overcame Cristian two months ago in Rouen. The 29-year-old will have home support on her side once again, and her aggressive game could put the Romanian under pressure at times.
