The Russian sits tenth in the rankings after notching up the best season of her career and got up and running in 2026 with a push to the round of 16 in Brisbane. 

Any move upwards on the WTA ladder would see her break new ground and she will be a heavy favourite against Jaqueline Cristian.

The Romanian is also at a career high of 38 and didn’t drop a set coming through qualifying.

However, she was soundly beaten by Alexandrova 6-1 6-2 back in October and while their second meeting may be closer, the Russian should still have too much firepower on a hardcourt.
