Jannik Sinner vs Yannick Hanfmann prediction
Jannik Sinner will play in his first match since his heartbreaking defeat to Carlos Alcaraz in a dramatic French Open final. The Italian was two sets to love up, had three championship points and served for the match at one point. Sinner has spoken about the need to refocus quickly, and he is back in Halle hoping to defend his title.
He takes on Yannick Hanfmann in round one. The German has already made the transition to grass having competed in Stuttgart last week, but he lost in the first-round to Marton Fucsovics after getting through the qualifying stages. He has never got past the first-round of Wimbledon despite three previous attempts in the main draw.
Sinner leads the head-to-head 2-0 and 1-0 on grass. They played each other in the first-round of Wimbledon last year with Hanfmann managing to take a set off Sinner though the Italian still won in four sets. Sinner may take some time to adjust but he should safely book his place in round two.
