Jannik Sinner vs Terence Atmane prediction
Jannik Sinner brushed aside his US Open final heartache with a crushing win over Marin Cilic.
The Italian showed no signs of any hangover at his failure to defend the Flushing Meadows title by sweeping to a 6-2 6-2 victory in his Beijing opener.
The world number two will now meet Terence Atmane for the second time in the last two months.
The Frenchman reached the semi-finals of Cincinnati in what was pretty much a break-out tournament, where he lost 7-6 6-2 to Sinner.
Atmane was outside the top 100 back then but is now up to 68 despite a recent injury lay-off and he was too strong for Zhizhen Zhang as he raced to a 6-2 6-4 win in the first round.
Once again Sinner is going to be a bridge too far, but the French underdog can at least see how close he is to the level he hit in Cincy, particularly when he pushed the top seed all the way in the opening set.
