Jannik Sinner will aim for his first Wimbledon title and fourth major overall at the Championships. He has featured in one warmup event on grass since his dramatic French Open final loss last month. He failed to defend his Halle crown as he ran into an inspired Alexander Bublik in the round-of-16, with the Kazakhstani coming from a set down to win on his way to winning the event for a second time. Sinner’s best previous result here was a semi-final appearance in 2023.
Luca Nardi withdrew before he was due to compete in Nottingham and then lost in the first stage of qualifying to Great Britain’s Billy Harris in Eastbourne. The Italian has not had a strong season up to now on the main tour and has barely any wins to his name on grass.
Despite the disappointment of an early Halle defeat, the time away may have helped Sinner and he will be raring to go. He should get off to a dominant start here.
