Jannik Sinner kicked off his latest title quest with a rout of Daniel Altmaier. 

The top seed raced to a 6-0 6-2 win over the German to set up a first ever clash with his compatriot Flavio Cobolli. 

Cobolli earned his shot at Sinner with an impressive 7-6 6-2 victory over Tomas Machac, but this will surely be a step too far. 

Cobolli’s form has been patchy of late and this clash is on a surface which is statistically his weakest. 

Sinner will be eager to earn the Italian bragging rights against a player just one year his junior and now sitting 20 places below him in the rankings.
