Jannik Sinner’s first match since his Wimbledon triumph sees him begin his Cincinnati title defence against Daniel Elahi Galan.

The world number one boasts a 26-4 record in 2025 and will be as confident as ever heading into a third meeting with the Colombian.

The qualifier posted an impressive 6-2 6-4 win over Vit Kopriva in the first round to register just his second tour-level of the year, but this will be a whole new challenge against the Italian.

Galan has lost both of their previous encounters and has never taken a set off Sinner - and that won’t change here on the top seed’s favoured hard courts. 

The four-time Grand Slam champion may not by firing on all cylinders after earning a breather following Wimbledon, but he won’t need to be to ease past the South American, who is no real danger away from his favoured clay courts.
