James Duckworth cruised into the second-round of the Winston-Salem Open after a straight sets win over Quinn Vandecasteele. The Australian won seven of the last eight games as he easily won 6-2 6-1 after just an hour and 11 minutes. He will now play Mariano Navone for a place in the round-of-16.

Navone’s highlight of the campaign was his title win at the Bucharest Open, while he also won a Challenger event in Cap Cana. He has also improved his record on hard courts this season, with nine wins from 16 matches on the surface in 2026.

Navone has been the better player across this year and deserves respect after some encouraging hard court results, but Duckworth is much more at home in these conditions and arrives after an emphatic opening win.
