The Spaniard triumphed 7-6 6-2 and will now meet James Duckworth in the round of 16.

Duckworth beat fellow Aussie Aleksandar Vukic 6-3 6-7 6-1 in a battle of the qualifiers. 

This will be their first tour-level match, although Duckworth prevailed in straight sets in a Bangkok 1A final six years ago.
