Jakub Mensik vs Jan Choinski prediction
Jakub Mensik makes his return to the tour after a spell out with an abdominal muscle injury, which led to him withdrawing from the Australian Open before his round-of-16 match against Novak Djokovic. Mensik won the Auckland Open in the lead up to the first slam of the year, and is undefeated in his last seven matches. He reached the final of this event as an 18-year-old in 2024, losing to Karen Khachanov.
Jan Choinski is his first-round opponent. The Brit qualified for the tournament after a superb comeback win against top seed Quentin Halys. Choinski won 1-6 6-3 7-6 (5), coming out on top despite winning four fewer points than Halys in the match.
Mensik will look to ease himself into this one after some time away from action, but his serve and overall game should be too much for Choinski, and the 20-year-old will be expected to come through this in straight sets.
