Jakub Mensik will look to break his duck against Hubert Hurkacz in Dubai.
The Czech has had an excellent start to the season, winning one title and beating Jannik Sinner on his way to the semi finals in Doha last week.
However, the 20-year-old holds a 0-2 record against Hurkacz, losing in five sets at the 2024 Australian Open and in a deciding set tie break in Rome last year.
That edge in the match-up will be what Hubi hopes can swing things his way as he looks to end a three-match losing run.
Both players have excellent serves and there’s certainly scope for this to include at least one tie break.
Mensik is in by far the better form overall and there's enough evidence to suggest that this will be a case of third time lucky after a couple of near misses versus the Pole.
