Jaime Faria vs Sebastian Baez prediction

Jaime Faria enters the draw as a lucky loser. He won his match against Cristian Garin in the first stage of qualifying, defeating the Chilean in three sets. The Portuguese then lost to Igor Ribeiro Marcondes, but Carlos Taberner’s withdrawal has opened up a spot for the Portuguese. He performed well at the Australian Open, as he made it all the way to the second-round from qualifying. He performed admirably against Andrey Rublev, taking the Russian to four sets.

He has a tough task in round one as he faces two-time defending champion Sebastian Baez. The Argentine has made a strong start to the season, with a final in Auckland followed up by a semi-final in Buenos Aires last week. Baez was unable to make the final of his home event, as he lost to Luciano Darderi in straight sets.

Faria is a talented player, but Baez is formidable at this event and is one of the favourites for the title once more.

Jaime Faria vs Sebastian Baez tip: Sebastian Baez to win 2-0
