Faria, who defeated Denis Shapovalov in round one, came from a break down in the first two sets and dominated the third to win 7-5 7-6 (1) 6-2 after two hours and 30 minutes.
He now goes up against Frances Tiafoe. The American outlasted Hubert Hurkacz in a five set epic to progress in Paris. Tiafoe, who made the quarter-finals of Roland Garros in 2025, broke as Hurkacz was serving to stay in the tournament to win 6-7 (5) 7-6 (5) 6-4 6-7 (1) 6-4 after four hours and 43 minutes.
It’s a pretty quick turnaround for Tiafoe but he will be expected to win, and the 28-year-old has the offensive weapons to control the match. However, Faria will be a tricky competitor and must have a lot of confidence after his recent streak of wins.
