Jacob Fearnley vs Quentin Halys prediction
Jacob Fearnley competed in the qualifying rounds for the Brisbane International last week but fell to a surprising straight sets loss to Dane Sweeny at the first stage. He took part in the qualifying for this event and won his first match against Christopher O’Connell but then went on to lose to Aleksandar Vukic. The Brit only enters the main draw as a lucky loser. Fearnley has largely been on a downward turn ever since making the quarter-finals of Queen’s Club last summer.
He faces Quentin Halys in round one. The Frenchman qualified in Brisbane after wins over Eliot Spizzirri and Kamil Majchrzak. He then produced a strong display in round one to get past 2024 Canadian Open champion Alexei Popyrin, before falling in the second-round to Brandon Nakashima. Halys struggled for form in 2025, but this was a more encouraging showing.
They have played once before, in the final of the Rennes Challenger in 2024, with Fearnley recovering from a poor start to win the title. Nevertheless, Halys did show some promising signs in Brisbane last week and his aggressive game should provide him with opportunities against Fearnley.
