He picked up his first win on the surface this season against Zizou Bergs in the first-round of Eastbourne and then pushed world number five Taylor Fritz all the way in a match which stretched over two days due to bad weather. Fritz held off the teenager to win 6-3 6-7 7-5.
This is an enticing first-round match with Britain’s Fearnley up against the precocious Fonseca. The Brazilian’s hard hitting from the back of the court may just give him the edge while concerns remain about the reliability of Fearnley’s serve.
