Jack Pinnington Jones vs Marin Cilic prediction
Jack Pinnington Jones advanced to his first ever ATP quarter-final after defeating Eliot Spizzirri in straight sets. The 22-year-old, who entered the main draw after two rounds of qualifying, had comfortably beaten Flavio Cobolli in the previous round but was given a much sterner test against Spizzirri. Nevertheless, the world number 181 kept his cool to win 7-6 (5) 4-6 7-6 (4).
He now takes on former US Open champion Marin Cilic. The veteran was strong on serve as he got past Ethan Quinn in straight sets. Cilic won all 38 first serve points and powered down 15 aces as he won 7-6 (4) 6-3. The Croatian has already impressed this week after defeating Australian Open quarter-finalist Learner Tien in the previous stage of the competition.
Pinnington Jones has enjoyed a breakthrough in Dallas, but Cilic has been largely faultless so far this week and will be difficult to stop.
