Jack Pinnington Jones was handed a wildcard for Queen’s Club. He competed in Ilkley last week, but could only advance to the round-of-16 as the eighth seed. Pinnington Jones’ highlight of the season was his fine run to the quarter-finals of the Dallas Open, which included a win over Roland Garros finalist Flavio Cobolli.
He will be facing Denis Shapovalov in the first-round. The Canadian looked on course for an opening round win at the Libema Open last week as he took the first set against Marin Cilic, but he ended up losing in three. That extended his losing streak to five matches. Shapovalov has lost 12 of his 20 matches in 2026 and is now ranked outside of the top 40.
Shapovalov is still the favourite for this one, but his confidence will have taken a hit after a period of poor form. Pinnington Jones will need to force the errors if he is to have a chance.
