Jack Draper vs Joao Fonseca Prediction
British number one Jack Draper returns to action as he continues to really carefully manage his schedule as he looks to build his fitness. After a spell out of action following the Australian Open, Draper returned in Doha and went all the way to the final before losing to Andrey Rublev.
He then proceeded to skip Dubai so that he comes into Indian Wells and the Sunshine Double in the best possible condition. Some of Draper’s best performances have come in the States and he will hope to improve on his exit in his opening match last year.
He faces a tough opening match against Brazilian prodigy Joao Fonseca and it will be fascinating to see how the pair measure up.
Fonseca had a tough opening match as he had to dig deep to overcome Jacob Fearnley 6-2 1-6 6-3. He will take some confidence from the manner of that win but he was not at his free-flowing best and did not seem completely comfortable on the surface.
Draper is becoming accustomed to hitting the ground running after time off and we expect him to do the same here. Fonseca is going through something of a lull after winning his first ATP Tour title in Buenos Aires and we expect Draper to get the win in this one.
