Iva Jovic vs Magdalena Frech prediction

Iva Jovic was unable to make a key breakthrough in the WTA 1000 tournaments earlier this month, as she lost in the third-round of both Toronto and Cincinnati. The 18-year-old began the season strongly, as she reached the final in Hobart and advanced to her first career Grand Slam quarter-final at the Australian Open. Her consistent form saw her reach the top 20 of the world rankings, but her results have not been quite as impressive over the last few months.

Her first-round opponent is Magdalena Frech. The Pole did find some form in Cincinnati, as she beat Antonia Ruzic and Jelena Ostapenko to progress to the third-round, before a loss to world number two Elena Rybakina. She also reached the third-round of the US Open last year.

Jovic has to be regarded as the favourite to win, but Frech’s recent level suggests she is capable of keeping at least one set close.
