Iva Jovic advanced to the third-round of a major for the first time as she thrashed Priscilla Hon. Jovic dominated the first set and despite going 2-0 down at the start of the second, she won the last six games in a row to seal a 6-1 6-2 win after one hour and 11 minutes.
She now takes on world number eight Jasmine Paolini. The two-time Grand Slam finalist breezed through her second-round match as she beat Magdalena Frech 6-2 6-3. Paolini has dropped just eight games from her two matches so far, but Jovic is likely to be her toughest test yet.
Paolini leads the head-to-head 2-0 after two victories last year. She needed three sets to beat Jovic in Indian Wells but pulled off a more comfortable straight sets win at the US Open. The 18-year-old has improved since then, having picked up her first WTA title last autumn and already reached a final in Hobart at the start of the year. This has all the makings of a tight match.
