Iva Jovic vs Dayana Yastremska prediction

Iva Jovic defended her Guadalajara Open title last month and looked on course for a deep run in Beijing after winning her first two matches at the event. However, she was soundly beaten by Iga Swiatek in the round-of-16. Jovic has a very slim chance of qualifying for the WTA Finals next month, but must win the title in Wuhan to keep her dwindling hopes alive. 

Jovic faces Dayana Yastremska in her opening match. The Ukrainian defeated Cristina Bucsa in the previous stage of the tournament. Yastremska, who also won two matches at the China Open, won the first five games of the deciding set and held off a late Bucsa fightback to win 6-4 5-7 6-3 after two hours and 12 minutes.

Yastremska’s attacking game could make individual sets competitive, but her high error count against Bucsa is concerning against an opponent who defends as effectively as Jovic. The American’s stronger recent results and superior consistency give her a clear advantage.
