Iga Swiatek heads into this tournament ranked number eight in the world, a far cry from the number one ranking that she’s held for a lengthy period of time across her career previously. It’s been a tough year for multiple Grand Slam winner Swiatek, the Pole having seen her French Open dominance brought to an end earlier in 2025 after winning the competition the last three years running.

She reached the Bad Homburg Open final in her preparations for Wimbledon, but was beaten by Jessica Pegula and was in tears following the match. She’s never made it beyond the quarter-finals at SW19 and grass is seen as her weakest surface by far. With that in mind, 22-year-old Polina Kudermetova will believe she can cause an upset.
