Iga Swiatek vs Emma Navarro prediction
Iga Swiatek will hope to win her first title of the year at the Bad Homburg Open ahead of her Wimbledon defence next week. Swiatek has not featured since her round-of-16 loss at Roland Garros to Marta Kostyuk. The six-time Grand Slam champion progressed to the final of this event last year, losing to Jessica Pegula.
She is the top seed and received a bye in the first-round. Swiatek now faces Emma Navarro after the American got past Eva Lys in her opening match. It was a quick turnaround for Navarro, following her run to the final of the Nottingham Open last week, but she edged ahead in a tight first set and controlled the second to win 7-6 (6) 6-3.
Swiatek leads the head-to-head 2-1, though Navarro did win their most recent meeting in Beijing towards the end of last year. The American is in good form and could trouble Swiatek in the early stages as the former world number one settles into the match, but she remains a firm favourite to advance.
