Iga Swiatek extended her winning run to eight matches and continued the defence of her Cincinnati Open title as she beat Diane Parry in straight sets. Swiatek, who won her first title in 11 months at the Canadian Open last week, was always in control as she wrapped up a 6-3 6-3 win after one hour and 28 minutes.
Elena Rybakina is still yet to drop a set at this year’s event as she got past Diana Shnaider. The two-time Grand Slam champion saved all seven break points on offer, winning 6-4 6-4. Following Aryna Sabalenka’s surprise round-of-16 loss to Sara Bejlek, Rybakina is just two matches away from becoming world number one for the first time in her career.
This is a rematch of last week’s final in Toronto, which saw Swiatek win comfortably. However, Rybakina did win their other 2026 meeting on her way to winning the Australian Open in January. Overall, Swiatek leads the head-to-head 7-6 and 5-3 on outdoor hard court. Given the faster surface and Rybakina’s level so far, this ought to be a closer match in comparison to last week.
