Iga Swiatek got her WTA Finals campaign off to a blistering start as she thrashed Madison Keys in the first group stage match. The world number two needed just an hour and one minute to beat Keys 6-1 6-2 as she seeks a second title at the event. She won 82% of her first serve points and broke the American in her first two service games to race to a 4-0 lead in the first set.

She now plays Elena Rybakina. The 2022 Wimbledon champion was in top form as she comfortably defeated Amanda Anisimova in straight sets. Anisimova has reached two Grand Slam finals this season and won the China Open last month, but she could do little to stop a rampant Rybakina, who fired seven aces, did not lose serve once and wrapped up a 6-3 6-1 win after just 57 minutes.

Swiatek leads the head-to-head 6-4 and has won the last four meetings, all having taken place this year. Nevertheless, the Kazakhstani is arguably in the best form of any player right now, having won her last seven matches, excluding the withdrawal in Tokyo before her semi-final match. Her powerful game matches well to these conditions, and this could go all the way to a third set.
