Newly-crowned Cincinnati Open champion Iga Swiatek has barely had time to take in her triumph in Ohio as the Pole now enters the revamped mixed doubles event alongside Casper Ruud.
Swiatek hasn’t played a great deal of doubles in the last few years but was fairly active on the circuit early on in her career, while Ruud has a fair bit of experience in the format, although is yet to experience much success compared to his singles endeavours.
Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe are no strangers to doubles themselves, but like their opponents, have not found much success over the years with both tending to suffer early exits when dipping their toes into the format.
This is very much a matchup between singles specialists so it’s a difficult one to call. Given the short turnaround for Swiatek though, who must surely be fatigued from her Cincinnati exploits, you’d have to give the edge to Keys and Tiafoe here, especially in front of their home crowd.
