Canada produced the shock of the tournament as they knocked Russia
out in a huge upset considering the form of the two teams during the
group stage. After only just scraping through to the knockout phase of
the competition, the Canadians took their chance with both hands as they
edged Russia in a thrilling contest that needed overtime to separate
the two teams. Despite that win, they now face an in-form USA outfit
that will be confident of progressing to the final. They have now won
seven straight matches after thrashing Slovakia 6-1 in their
quarter-final clash and with that momentum behind them, the Americans
should advance here.
