THE PREDICTION

Canada were able to squeeze their way into the quarter-finals despite losing their first three games of the tournament as well as their final game with Finland. The point they earned from their shootout loss to the Finns ensured they edged out Kazakhstan but going into the last eight with a losing record will take a lot for them to overcome, especially as they face the daunting prospect of facing Russia. Having defeated Belarus 6-0 in their final group game, the Russians topped Group A with six wins from seven and with Canada performing nowhere near their best in this competition, it would be a shock if Russia failed to advance to the semi-finals.
