Hubert Hurkacz suffered an early exit at the Open Occitanie, as he lost in round one to American qualifier Martin Damm. The Pole is continuing his return to the tour after a long spell out with injury, but that straight sets loss will have been a minor blow for Hurkacz, who was expected to do far better in Montpellier. He has a strong record in Rotterdam, having reached the semi-finals here last year, losing to eventual winner Carlos Alcaraz.
