THE LOWDOWN
Day 2 draws to a close with the Champion Bumper and it could be dominated by the top two in the market. Kilcruit and Sir Gerhard will go head-to-head with very little to split the pair but the former looks well-primed for this with the duo of Willie Mullins and Paul Townend taking this race out last year. Kilcruit is 2-2 over this distance with both of those since switching to the Mullins yard. Sir Gerhard is also unbeaten having claimed success in two bumpers so far and looks to have plenty more improvement in him. Another horse of interest is Three Stripe Life after making a promising debut at Navan in January. He won by nine lengths that day and is bred to jump well so he could pose problems for the two frontrunners.
THE PREDICTION
Kilcruit and Sir Gerhard could be difficult to separate with the pair looking like the best horses in the field based on their recent showings. They could put up a brilliant battle here with both capable of getting their nose in front but with the pair also short enough to oppose, it might be worth backing them to both get home before the rest of the field.
