THE LOWDOWN
The Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle looks to be a wide-open affair with plenty of the field possessing a good chance to earn the win. Royal Kahala has made a consistent start to hurdling with two wins and a second, although she found Roseys Hollow too good for her last time out at Fairyhouse. That was her second successive win over hurdles and she looks to be trending in the right direction. Hook Up found Royal Kahala too good in their meeting in January but she produced a good performance to finish fourth in a quality Grade 1 affair last month so commands respect while other entries of Willie Mullins in the shape of Glens Of Antrim and Gauloise could also figure owing to the trainer’s unbeaten record in this race with his horses winning all five since its inception in 2016.
THE PREDICTION
Backing against a Willie Mullins horse in this race could prove to be dangerous business but Roseys Hollow could end his dominance here. She got the better of what could be her nearest rival in Royal Kahala when they last met and while she is now 9lb better off since that meeting, the selection looks to have enough in hand to be able to repeat that success.
