THE LOWDOWN

The Grand Annual looks to be an interesting renewal with plenty of chances throughout the field. Chosen Mate will be out to defend his crown having managed to get his nose in front last year on his one and only entry to date at the Festival. Ibleo has won four of seven races over this distance while the expected going should suit too having only finished outside of the frame once in eight races. That pair are both towards the top end of the weights but lower down the list, Embittered ran an impressive race when third in last year’s County Hurdle but he will have to prove himself over fences in this one having failed to be first past the post in his four races to date when chasing.

THE PREDICTION

There are several horses that make appeal in this race but in a big field, it could be worth siding with one at a bigger price with Ibleo making the greatest appeal. He will relish this trip and comes into this in form having won on his two outings in January. Both of those were in Class 2 races so he will have to show more improvement to get his nose in front but he should be in the mix at the very least.
