Holger Rune vs Marton Fucsovics prediction
Holger Rune was on course for a second Masters 1000 final of the season in Shanghai but fell at the quarter-final stage as he lost to Valentin Vacherot despite going a set up. Vacherot would end up going on to win the title. He also got to the same stage of the Tokyo Open, but his form has been up and down for the most part. He did win a title in Barcelona and made the final in Indian Wells earlier in the season, but Rune has struggled to find consistency throughout the whole year.
He is the top seed in Stockholm and has already won the event as a teenager in 2022. Marton Fucsovics will be his opponent after thrashing Jesper De Jong in straight sets. Fucsovics broke at the start of the match and never really looked back, except for the start of the second set when De Jong broke to take a 2-0 lead. The Hungarian would win the last six service games to seal a 6-1 6-2 victory. He won the event in Winston-Salem two months ago and will be raring to go against Rune.
They played once before in Miami two years ago, with Rune coming through in straight sets. This not the easiest of matches for Rune to start his campaign, but he will be looking to make a statement as he aims for a second title here.
