HOLGER RUNE VS ALEXANDER ZVEREV PREDICTION
Holger Rune is coming off a fantastic three-set thriller against Alex de Minaur on Friday afternoon and it will be interesting to see how much that match took out of the ninth seed. There was very little between the two players in the first two sets but Rune took control in the third set and eventually broke and then held to seal the match.
Rune has improved with every match he has played this week and the quarter-final on Friday was the best he has played yet. He is now in touching distance of another final but he will have to overcome Alexander Zverev to get there.
Zverev overcame Stefanos Tsitsipas on Friday in straight sets 7-5 6-4. The scoreline looks like a simple victory but this was a really high-calibre game in which Zverev was exceptional. He will take plenty of confidence from that win and he will fancy his chances of going all the way in Paris especially after Alcaraz was knocked out.
The pair have met on three previous occasions and it is Zverev who has won both previous meetings this year. The first was a five-set thriller at Roland Garros in the summer, and the second was a straight-sets victory at the ATP Masters 1000 in Canada.
We like Zverev for a number of reasons in this match. He should be the fresher of the two players, his performance levels have been exceptional so far, and he has had the edge over Rune in their meetings this year.
