HOLGER RUNE VS ALEX DE MINAUR PREDICTION
Holger Rune faced his toughest test so far in Paris on Thursday night against Arthur Cazaux as he had to overcome both the Frenchman and the Parisian crowd. The atmosphere was exceptional with the crowd firmly behind Cazaux, but Rune did well to come from a set down to win in three.
He now meets ninth seed Alex de Minaur who is coming off a fabulous three-set win over Jack Draper. The Australian went a set down but battled back impressively to beat the in-form Brit and take his place in the quarter-finals.
That performance by De Minaur was the standout effort by either player so far in Paris and much will depend whether he can sustain that level or sees a drop off on Friday. It will not be easy to reach those levels once again and Rune is playing well but is far from unbeatable.
Based on the evidence and performance levels so far in Paris, we simply have to favour the Australian but we do fear a drop in intensity after the effort he put in on Thursday. Our preferred play here his own game betting with a marginal preference for De Minaur.
