Himeno Sakatsume revelled in the spotlight after notching an eyebrow-raising upset in round one.

The Japanese world number 228 won her first WTA main draw match of the year in some style as she claimed arguably the biggest victory of her career with a 6-2 6-1 demolition of fourth seed Sofia Kenin. 

Her reward is a clash with another surprise winner after home favourite Eudice Chong charged to a 6-3 6-4 win over Suzan Lamens. 

This will be their third meeting and although it is one apiece in the match-up, it was Chong who ran out a 6-2 6-3 winner in a W35 in Hong Kong last year. 

The Hong Kong native does boast the higher ranking and clearly playing on home turf brings out something extra in her, so it’s tough to go against her here.
