Harriet Dart vs Peyton Stearns prediction

Harriet Dart will compete in the main draw of the US Open for the fifth time in her career as she won all three of her qualifying matches. Dart was drawn to face fellow Brit Heather Watson in the final stage, and she came from a set down to win 2-6 6-4 6-1. The Brit has reached two finals at lower-level events this season, and her live ranking is currently at 130 in the world. 

Dart will face Peyton Stearns for a place in round two. Stearns picked up her second WTA Tour title earlier this season, as she won the ATX Open. The American’s form at other events has been less impressive, but she has also found wins at major level in 2026, with third-round appearances at the Australian Open and Roland Garros. 

These two faced each other earlier this month at the Cincinnati Open, with Stearns winning their first-round match in straight sets. The 24-year-old will be the favourite to win again, but Dart should be able to trouble her for at least a set.
