Hanne Vandewinkel vs Karolina Pliskova prediction

Hanne Vandewinkel qualified for the Cincinnati Open earlier this month but then lost in the first-round after a straight sets defeat to Xinyu Wang. The Belgian did pick up her fourth ITF title just a few weeks ago in Landisville as she came from a set down to beat Anastasia Zakharova in the final. She is now searching for her first main draw Grand Slam victory, as she lost in the first-round of Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

Her opponent is Karolina Pliskova. The former world number reached the final of the US Open a decade ago, losing to Angelique Kerber in the final. Pliskova has been able to play far more matches in 2026, and that has resulted in her moving inside the top 60 of the world rankings. She reached the quarter-finals of a WTA 1000 event in Madrid, but her recent results have been less impressive. Pliskova was blown away by Mirra Andreeva in the second-round of the Canadian Open, and then suffered another heavy defeat against Sara Bejlek in Cincinnati.

Pliskova’s last two results have been concerning, and that could give Vandewinkel hope of pulling off an upset.
