Hamad Medjedovic competed at Queen’s Club two weeks ago, winning his opening match against Arthur Rinderknech. He had four match points against Ugo Humbert in the round-of-16, but the Frenchman would go on to save them all, force a decider and win the match. The Serb impressed during the clay court season, with a semi-final appearance in Barcelona followed up by a run to the fourth-round at the Italian Open.
He plays Sebastian Ofner in the first-round. The Austrian’s last event was in Parma on the Challenger Tour, as he advanced to the semi-finals before a loss to Laslo Djere. He reached the third-round at Wimbledon last year, his best result at the event since 2017. Ofner has won two Challenger titles this season.
This is a rematch of their first-round match from last year, which saw Ofner progress after Medjedovic’s retirement in the second set. The 22-year-old has improved this season, and he’s the favourite if he’s able to stay fit on this occasion.
