Hailey Baptiste vs Jessica Pegula prediction

Hailey Baptiste got through to the second-round of the Wuhan Open as she came from a set down to beat fellow American Ashlyn Krueger. Krueger started the better of the two, but Baptiste rallied and converted four of her five break points overall as she won 2-6 6-4 6-2. She has not had a great season, with her best result being a quarter-final appearance in Auckland all the way back in January, but Baptiste will take confidence from her win.

Jessica Pegula continued her return to form at the China Open, reaching the semi-finals. This included a dramatic third-round match against Emma Raducanu, where she saved multiple match points and came back to win. She also came from a set down to beat Marta Kostyuk and Emma Navarro but in a cruel twist of fate, she would lose the semi-final match to Linda Noskova despite having match points on her serve as she looked to close it out in the decider.

Pegula leads the head-to-head 2-0 and 1-0 on hard court. The 2024 US Open finalist is performing strongly at the moment and will be a clear favourite to advance comfortably.
