Hailey Baptiste vs Ekaterina Alexandrova prediction

Hailey Baptiste dug deep to edge Liudmila Samsonova and reach her maiden WTA semi final.

The American continued her charge in Abu Dhabi with a 6-2 4-6 6-2 win over the fifth seed. 

The wild card will now take on Ekaterina Alexandrova after the second seed eased to a 6-3 6-3 success over Alexandra Eala. 

This will be their second meeting and Baptiste is likely to be more competitive than in their first encounter when the Russian claimed a 6-1 6-1 triumph in Wuhan in 2024. 

That was also on a hardcourt and the match-up clearly favours the seeded player, but Hailey has had a stonking week so far and it may be closer than many anticipate. 

That said, Alexandrova seems to be finding her groove again after a slow start to the year and if she stays solid and consistent, her superior tennis should get her through.
