Grigor Dimitrov vs Daniil Medvedev prediction
Grigor Dimitrov made a winning return to the tour after over three months out with injury as he defeated Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The 2017 World Tour Finals champion edged a tight first set but completely dominated the second as he dismantled the Mpetshi Perricard serve to win 7-6 6-1. Dimitrov, who made the final in 2023, now takes on Daniil Medvedev.
Medvedev, who also has a final appearance at the tournament from the 2021 edition, breezed through his round one match after beating Jaume Munar in straight sets. The Russian was secure on serve and consistently created opportunities as he won 6-1 6-3 after just an hour and 10 minutes. He did not even concede a break point.
These two have faced each other on 11 occasions overall, with Medvedev leading 8-3 and 3-1 indoors. However, Dimitrov did win their match at the event two years ago on his way to the final. The 2021 US Open champion has enjoyed a return to form over the past month, with his first title since May 2023 in Almaty and two semi-finals in Beijing and Shanghai. Dimitrov is only just getting back to fitness and is likely to be second best here.
