Grigor Dimitrov continued his resurgence as he advanced to the round-of-16 at Wimbledon for the sixth time in his career. The Bulgarian held off a spirited fightback from 2021 finalist Matteo Berrettini to win in five sets on Centre Court. Dimitrov, who defeated 15th seed Jakub Mensik in round two, rediscovered his best level in the decider as he completed a 6-3 6-4 3-6 5-7 6-3 win after three hours and 32 minutes.
He will now face Arthur Fery as the British wildcard advanced to the round-of-16 at a major for the first time following a win over Zizou Bergs on Court 18. Bergs was a break up in sets four and five, but Fery fought back and largely dominated the 10-point deciding set tiebreak to win 2-6 7-5 2-6 7-6 (3) 7-6 (5). He has won nine of his 12 matches on grass this season.
Fery has enjoyed an incredible run up to now, but Dimitrov will be aware that this is a golden opportunity to reach back-to-back quarter-finals at the All England Club.
