Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard has struggled for the most part on clay and suffered four consecutive first-round defeats. The big serving Frenchman had been on a seven-match losing streak in total but his fortunes completely changed on the Challenger Tour in Bordeaux. He won the title with the loss of just one set during the whole tournament. He could only make the second-round in his follow up event in Hamburg.
Zizou Bergs’s best moment on clay in 2025 was a quarter-final in Munich at the BMW Open where he would lose to Fabian Marozsan. The Belgian has struggled to make an impact elsewhere and is coming off the back of successive first-round defeats in Madrid and Geneva.
Mpetshi Perricard has had a very difficult season with the exception of one Challenger event, but Bergs has also struggled to make much of an impact in his campaign. Neither will be expected to make a deep run here and neither player stands out as a clear favourite here either.
