Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard vs Jiri Lehecka prediction
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard continued his upturn in form as he knocked top seed Lorenzo Musetti out of the European Open with a straight sets win in the quarter-finals. The big serving Frenchman took the first set and benefitted from Musetti double faulting at set point in the second set tiebreak as he came through to win 6-4 7-6. It’s been a tough year for Mpetshi Perricard but he does have some momentum with him, having also reached the round-of-16 at the Shanghai Masters in his previous tournament, which included a win over world number four Taylor Fritz.
He will go up against Jiri Lehecka in the semi-finals. The Czech came through his quarter-final match after his opponent Benjamin Bonzi was forced to retire. Bonzi took the first set after a lengthy tiebreak which saw Lehecka squander a set point, but it was total dominance for Lehecka after that as he led 6-7 6-1 6-1 before the Frenchman called it quits. Lehecka is now just one match away from a third final of a very solid year on tour.
Mpetshi Perricard is a dangerous player indoors, which maximises his fearsome serve to full effect, but Lehecka will still be expected to come through this one.
