Although Gary Anderson isn't as active on the circuit as he once was, the 55-year-old is still one of the best players on tour when he produces his best darts.
The Flying Scotsman proved that with his run to the last four at Ally Pally, while he is a former World Matchplay winner having gone all the way in 2018.
Ryan Joyce has shown a bit of form on the European Tour recently, reaching two quarter-finals before finishing as runner-up at the Baltic Sea Darts Open in late May.
However, Winter Gardens has not been a happy hunting ground for the 40-year-old, who has lost in the first round during each of his three participations in the event.
He will be desperate to improve upon that record, but this is a tough draw for him, and in what should be a contest played at a pace that is favourable to Anderson, we expect the two-time world champion to show his class.
